Brazil's motor vehicle output in April this year decreased by 15.5 percent from the previous month to 260,800 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). The country's motor vehicle output was down by 7.5 percent in April over the same month last year. However, in the first four months of this year Brazil's motor vehicle output decreased 10.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, amounting to 998,900 units.
According to the report, total new motor vehicle registrations in Brazil amounted to 257,885 units in April this year, decreasing 14.2 percent from March this year and down 10.8 percent year on year. 22.6 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles.
Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in April this year totaled 48,692 units, increasing 15.3 percent compared to the previous month and down 0.5 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports came to $1.38 billion, decreasing by 4.3 percent month on month and up 5.7 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
