Brazil’s November crude steel output down 11.3 percent over October

In November this year, Brazilian crude steel production totaled 2.6 million metric tons, dropping 11.3 percent compared to October and by 2.8 percent from November 2009, according to the Brazil Steel Institute (IABr).
 
Brazil's rolled steel product output totaled 2.1 million mt in November, decreasing by 9.1 percent month on month and rising 5.3 percent year on year. Of this total, the country's flat steel output stood at 1.27 million mt - down 9.9 percent over October and up nine percent year on year, while its long steel output amounted to 827,900 metric tons, down 8.5 percent month on month and up marginally compared to November 2009.
 
On the other hand, in the first 11 months of this year, Brazil's crude steel output rose 27.1 percent, reaching 30.41 million metric tons, while its rolled steel output increased by 32.5 percent to 24.14 million metric tons, including 14.53 million metric tons of flat products - up 37.8 percent, and 9.61 million metric tons of long products - up 25.3 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
