Brazil's iron ore exports up by 3.2 percent in May

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 35.11 million mt in May this year, increasing 3.2 compared to the same month of 2016, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore exports in May totaled $1.65 billion in value, increasing 23.1 percent year on year. 
 
In May, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 984,225 mt, up by 12.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $428.8 million, increasing by 71.5 percent year on year.
                                              
Meanwhile, in May Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 274,695 metric tons, up by 51.9 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $176.1 million, growing by 76.3 percent from the May 2016 level.
