Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 28.91 million mt in January this year, decreasing 17.7 percent month on month and up by 15.4 percent compared to the same month of 2015, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore exports in January totaled $1.62 billion in value, down 8.4 percent from the previous month and increasing 146.9 percent year on year.
In January, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 841,500 mt, increasing by 7.5 percent month on month and up by 35.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $308 million, rising by 13.4 percent compared to December and increasing by 92.5 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in December Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 283,800 metric tons, down by 11.2 percent month on month and rising by 20.4 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $161.5 million, falling 6.5 percent from the previous month and growing by 45 percent from the January 2016 level.
