Brazil's iron ore exports down by 16.1 percent in October

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 31.2 million mt in October this year, decreasing by 16.1 percent compared to the same month of 2018, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore exports in October totaled $1.96 billion in value, decreasing by 5.3 percent year on year.

In October, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 722,170 mt, down by 48.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $317.05 million, decreasing by 61.2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the same month Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 249,198 metric tons, up by 13.4 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $143.11 million, down 18.2 percent from the October 2018 level.
