CVM, the Brazilian securities exchange regulator, has opened an investigation into Vale’s Brumadinho iron ore waste dam disaster, which killed 270 people in January.

CVM said it will investigate “eventual irregularities” committed by Vale’s management due to the incident.

CVM said the current probe only covers Vale’s fiduciary responsibilities or how it acted for investors’ best interest during the disaster, and it does not include environmental-related charges.
