Brazilian policymakers suggest reduced taxes for construction projects using iron ore waste

Brazilian policymakers in the state of Minas Gerais have proposed reduced taxes for construction projects that use iron ore waste, officials said this week.

A draft law at Minas Gerais state legislative body was approved this Wednesday by local politicians. The proposed draft law may reduce the local ICMS tax – a tax on commerce and services - down to zero as long as concrete and cement construction works use iron ore waste.

Products used in construction projects containing iron ore waste may also get the benefit if the draft law comes into effect as a regulation.
