According to the statistics provided by Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), in August this year Brazil's iron ore exports amounted to 25.97 million metric tons, rising by 0.1 percent year on year and up 9.5 percent compared to July this year.
The share of the world's largest iron ore exporter Vale in Brazil's total iron ore exports in August equalled 89.2 percent, amounting to 23.16 million metric tons, down 1.4 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2011 Brazilian iron ore exports rose by 4.1 percent year on year, reaching 183.3 million metric tons.
Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in the January-August period of this year reached 91.4 percent, amounting to 167.5 million metric tons, up six percent compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
