The state-run gas company Cegas will supply natural gas for Brazil-based slab producer Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) —a joint venture (JV) owned by Vale, Dongkuk and Posco. According to the press release, Cegas has performed the needed infrastructure works to supply the product to CSP including the basic project, the gas pipe, and services linked to the transport of the product.

Under the terms of the natural gas supply contract, Cegas will continuously supply the product to CSP. CSP will use the gas to run its steelworks, continuous casting and central maintenance areas. CSP’s CEO, Eduardo Parente, said the contract will allow the steelmaker to reduce costs and improve operations.
