Brazil’s auto production decreased 13.7 percent in January, year-on-year, to 204,751 units, according to data from the nation’s automotive industry, Anfavea. Production of autos was stable when compared to December, when 204,000 units were produced.

“We were waiting for a hard beginning in 2015 and will evaluate this trend in the second half of the year. Our forecast is that the exports market will be stable this year, and production will be up 4 percent,” said Luiz Moan, Anfavea’s president.

Brazilian car sales fell 18.8 percent month-on-month, and 31.4 percent year-on-year, to 253,803 units. Meanwhile, Brazil’s auto exports decreased 27.9 percent year-on-year, and 30.4 percent month-on-month, to 16,302 units.
