Brazil has requested for the World Trade Organization (WTO) to open a review case on US tariffs on Brazilian steel exports.  The case will prove important as the US has increased its use of tariffs as a trade barrier.

In August, for example the US Department of Commerce slapped Brazil's Usiminas with a 34.28 percent dumping margin while CSN and all other Brazilian HRC producers received a 33.14 percent dumping margin.  Anti-dumping margins have also been established through the year on CRC, carbon and alloy steel cut-to-length plate (CTL plate) from Brazil.
