Turkey-based steel pipe producer Borusan Mannesmann Boru has announced that it will supply steel pipes for the 368-kilometer part of a new natural gas pipeline from the Permian basin of West Texas to Corpus Christi.

According to Borusan Mannesmann, the contract value of the 368-kilometer part of the pipeline project amounts to $173 million. The steel pipes with outer diameters of 42 inches will be produced at the company’s Gemlik (Bursa) facilities, one of the world's most advanced spiral pipe production facilities. The products will be supplied during the current year.

The new pipeline aims to sell US natural gas to international markets by transporting gas from the Permian basin to Corpus Christi.

Zafer Atabey, general manager of Borusan Mannesmann, stated that in the last three years the company has performed exceptionally well in the prestigious and high-tonnage pipeline business in the US and has become a recognized trademark, and added that in terms of tonnage and contract value this is the largest project for which Borusan Mannesmann will have supplied pipes.
