German automobile manufacturer BMW is reportedly considering transferring a part of its production of MINI brand vehicles from China to Mexico to obtain USMCA tariff advantages, according to Julio Brito, a Mexican journalist specialized in the automotive industry.

Currently, Brito said in one of his social networks, BMV imports MINI vehicles for the United States market from its plants located in China, for which the cost increases 27 percent due to customs duties.

In addition to the extra cost of importing, MINIs are excluded from the tax benefits granted by the United States government.

SteelOrbis requested more information from BMW's external public relations agency in Mexico, but so far there has been no response.
