BlueScope Steel Vietnam’s new line starts production
Australian steelmaker BlueScope Steel today announced that its new metallic coating line in Vietnam started its
production ahead of schedule. The company indicated that other lines at the plant including the painting line would also become operational progressively.
The metallic coating line is part of a project carried on in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province of Vietnam. The cost of the project is A$160 million.
BlueScope Steel CEO and Managing Director, Mr Kirby Adams, said "This was BlueScope Steel's first major investment in a new Asian country following the Company's public listing on the Australian Stock Exchange in July 2002. This state-of-the-art facility is also the first coating and painting facility of its kind in Vietnam.”
The facility will have an annual
production capacity of 125'000 tons of metallic
coated and 50'000 tons of painted flat steel products.
