BHP Billiton to expand its iron ore capacity

According to recent news in the market, Australian producer BHP Billiton is planning to increase its iron ore capacity with certain investments to be made in its Western Australian mills. In line with the project, annual capacity of Pilbara mills will be increased from 100 million tons to 110 million tons till the end of 2004. For this project, $111 million is expected to be spent. An official from BHP Billiton stated that the expansion decision is taken depending on the rising iron ore demand worldwide.
