Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Iron and Steel Group has announced that in the first half of this year its wire rod output totaled 1,556,700 mt, including 1,336,000 mt of high value-added wire rod. The high value-added wire rod products contributed RMB 175 million ($27.7 million) to the company's gross profit in the given period.
Benxi Steel's wire rod exports totaled 516,500 mt in the first six months of the current year. The steelmaker produced 72 different wire rod products in this period.
In the first six months, Benxi Steel developed production of HRB 400E and HPB 300 high-strength rebar, SWRH62B-B stranded wire, 35# cold heading steel as well as H08Mn2 and BZJ55-Ti welded steel.
