Beiman Specialty Steel halts production temporarily

Chinese stainless steel producer Beiman Specialty Steel located in Heilongjiang province has reported that an explosion on July 14 in its meltshop which injured three people has temporarily stopped production until the investigation is completed. The cause of the explosion is believed to have been caused by water leaking into a molten steel-filled blast furnace. Beiman produces mostly long stainless steel products and bearing steel, and has a production capacity of 600'000 – 700'000 tons per annum. Beiman Special Steel is a subsidiary of Northeastern Special Steel Co., which was previously known by the name of Liaoning Special Steel until October 2003.
