Baosteel posts 8.6 percent decrease in net profit for Q1 2026

Major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has announced that it registered an operating revenue of RMB 77.061 billion ($11.2 billion) in the January-March period this year, up 5.7 percent year on year, while posting a net profit of RMB 2.225 billion ($0.32 billion) for the given period, down 8.6 percent year on year.

In the January-March period this year, Baosteel produced 12.229 million mt of pig iron, 13.211 million mt of crude steel and 12.606 million mt of finished steel.

Baosteel also announced that in 2025 it registered an operating revenue of RMB 317.508 billion ($46.3 billion), down 1.43 percent year on year, while posting a net profit of RMB 10.346 billion ($1.5 billion) for the given year, up 40.53 percent year on year. 

In 2025, Baosteel sold 52.463 million mt of finished steel, up 2.05 percent year on year, while it exported 6.479 million mt of finished steel, up 6.8 percent year on year.
