Bahrain Steel to supply pellets to Essar Group’s Saudi green steel plant

India-based Essar Group has announced that it has signed an agreement with Bahrain-based iron ore pellet producer Bahrain Steel for the supply of an annual four million mt of DR-grade pellets to its Green Steel Arabia (GSA) project Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia.

The Essar project, which is set to be the region’s first green steel project, will have an annual direct reduced iron (DRI) capacity of five million mt. The given agreement will secure 50 percent of raw material supply of iron ore pellets for the plant. The plant is scheduled to start production from 2027.
