Managing director of Iranian steel producer Azarbaijan Steel, Mr. Fathollah Tayebi, has stated that, though the company suffered losses during the six years since its start-up in 2001, it expects to be profitable in the current Iranian year (21.03.2007-20.03.2008).

Mr. Tayebi went on to add that Azarbaijan Steel produced approximately 300,000 tons of light long products, especially debar, during the first six months of the current Iranian year, an increase of 15 percent compared with the same period of last year.

Azarbaijan Steel, which is located 450 km northwest of Tehran at Miyaneh, has a designed rolling capacity of 550,000 tons per year of long products.
