Australia’s iron ore export income increased 73% in Q3
Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource announced statistics regarding the mineral production, imports and exports of Australia in the third quarted ended on September 30. Australia's iron and steel production increased 60'000 mt both quarterly and year on year to 1.95 million mt, while iron ore and concentrate production decreased 802'000 mt quarterly to 65.95 million mt, while increased 4.78 million mt year on year to 65.95 million mt. On exports side, Australia exported 570'000 mt iron and steel in the third quarter, up 8'000 mt both quarterly and year on year, while exported 59.56 million mt iron ore and pellets, up 5'000 mt quarterly and 4.72 million mt year on year. The value of iron and steel exports decreased 24 percent year on year to A$402 million ($300.5 million), however the value of iron ore and pellet exports increased 73 percent year on year to A$2.97 billion ($2.22 billion). The iron ore, iron and steel imports of the country were negligible comparing to the exports.
