Australia-based iron ore company Centaurus Metals Limited announced Tuesday that it acquired a new iron ore exploration project in Paraiba, located in northeast Brazil. Centaurus said the acquisition is consistent with its strategy of acquiring iron ore properties located near open access infrastructure.

The iron ore property, known as Curral Velho, has six tenements that cover a total of 83 square kilometers, and is 350 kilometers from the Brazilian export port Suape. "The Curral Velho Project ticks all the boxes in terms of our criteria for new projects in Brazil, offering strong prospectivity and the opportunity to delineate a sizeable resource combined with an attractive location near to open access rail and port infrastructure," said Centaurus' Managing Director Darren Gordon.
