The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS) has announced its preliminary decision regarding the countervailing duty (CVD) investigation on aluminum-zinc coated steel and galvanized steel imports from China.
The ACBPS has found that the subsidized goods appear to have caused material injury to the domestic industry. The subsidy margins for galvanized steel imports range between 5.2 percent and 24.2 percent, while the subsidiary margins for the aluminum-zinc coated steel imports range between five percent and 21 percent. However, the ACBPS decided that it is not required to collect countervailing securities for the time being.
The countervailing duty investigation was initiated in November 2012 upon the application made by Australia-based flat steel producer BlueScope Steel.
