In May this year, prices of scrap, pig iron and other steelmaking raw materials moved on a downtrend in Italy both for domestic and import materials, according to Assofermet, the Italian association of traders of iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, ferrous scrap, hardware and similar goods. Scrap supply in the country is reportedly tight.
Assofermet highlights that future market trends will be closely linked to the developments regarding the case of troubled Italian steelmaker, which is affecting not only the Taranto steelworks but also Ilva's other finishing lines located in Italy and Europe.
Meanwhile, Assofermet has also issued steel product and steelmaking raw material import volumes for Port Marghera, Venice during the month of May. The details are as follows:
