According to local press, the Pecem steel plant, located in the Brazilian northeastern state of Ceará and recently acquired by ArcelorMittal, produced a record of 258,971 mt of slab in July, reportedly exceeding its 3.0 million mt per year capacity, or 250,000 mt per month.
During the first seven months of the year, the plant produced 1.718 million mt, 7.3 percent more than in the same period of 2022.
Since the start of its operations in June 2016, the plant has produced an accumulated 19.14 million mt of slab, shipped to more than 24 countries.
According to the newspaper Diario do Nordeste, ArcelorMittal has plans to expand the slab production at Pecem and to produce HRC locally.
