The world's largest steelmaker Arcelor Mittal has announced that it will invest in a new Steel Service Center (SSC) in Krakow, Poland. The new SSC, with a capacity of 450,000 metric tons per year, will start operating early in the fourth quarter of 2007. The new facility will incorporate two de-coiling lines, one for HRC and one for CRC and coated material, and also a slitting line. These lines will be localized in the existing Walcownia Tasm building in Huta Sendzimira. The new SSC capacities together with Arcelor Mittal's existing de-coating and slitting facilities in Huta Sendzimira and in Bytom, will bring the company's capacity close to one million metric tons a year in Poland.
