Anshan Steel continues to increase production

Northern China's Liaoning province-based steelmaker Anshan Iron and Steel (Angang) increased its crude steel production 8.02 percent year on year to 5.98 million tons through the first six months of the year. Angang also produced 6.48 million tons of iron, up 16.4 percent year on year, and 5.42 million tons of rolled steel products, up 4.39 percent year on year, through the first half. The company's production targets for 2005 are 13.07 million tons of iron, 12.07 million tons of crude steel and 10.92 million tons of rolled steel products. Angang exported 238'000 tons of hot rolled sheet, 114'800 tons of cold rolled sheet, 123'700 tons of galvanized sheet and 227'500 tons of wire rod through the first half.
