Anhui Province eliminates 9.67 million mt of coal capacity in 2016

On December 27, the Development and Reform Commission of China’s Anhui Province stated that it shut down 10 coal mines and eliminated 9.67 million mt of coal capacity in 2016, with 23,144 workers being resettled.
 
Zhang Shaochun, director at the commission, stated that Anhui Province is aiming to shut down 21 coal mines, eliminate 31.83 million mt of coal capacity and relocate over 70,000 workers during the 2016-20 period.
