The Russian steel producer Amurmetall has announced that its electro-melting workshop No. 2 is continuing trial production, on schedule, with its new slab concaster.

The slab concaster in question was supplied by SMS Demag and allows Amurmetall to produce slabs of 1,000-1,900 mm in width, of 150 mm, 200 mm and 250 mm in thickness, and of 1,200-9,000 mm in length.

During the first 20 days of October 2008, Amurmetall's electro-melting workshop No. 2 manufactured more than 13,000 mt of slabs, including 5,000 mt for the Russian domestic market and 8,000 mt for export.

Amurmetall's electro-melting workshop No. 2 has recently completed an order for British company Stemcor, and by the end of the current month is due to complete several more orders.
