All quiet on the color coated coil front

This week, the market prices of color coated coil remained quiet. The market trading volume was down a little while market inventories of color coated coil were unchanged. Meanwhile, some steel mills released new ex-factory prices during the week. On February 9, the average market prices of color coated coils remained unchanged week on week. 0.476 mm material was RMB 6,750/mt ($871/mt), 0.4 mm was RMB 7,260/mt ($937/mt), and finally, the average market price of 0.286 mm material imported from Taiwanese Yieh Phui was RMB 8,180/mt ($1,055/mt). This week, the market price of color coated coil maintained its steady trend in a market which was comparatively quiet overall. Market inventories changed little from last week, while the market trading volume declined slightly. Due to the approach of China's Spring Festival, traders declined to make any further changes to their sales prices for color coated coil. Though the trading volume was not good, due to the recent bad weather and the heavy pre-holiday trafficthe supplies of color coated in the market did not increase. On the other hand, compared with the great increase in the HR ex-factory prices, the ex-factory prices of color coated issued this week, including those of Angang, Benxi Steel and WISCO, all remained stable. Furthermore, many traders have already gone home in order to prepare for the Spring Festival. Turning to the week ahead, it expected that the market price of color coated coil will maintain its stable trend.
