Alonso Elizondo, the board president of Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA), was released from jail late this week, according to media reports. The executive had been detained in Mallorca, Spain, since May 28, following corruption charges by the Mexican government.

Elizondo reportedly paid EUR 1 million to be released, however he cannot leave Spain and must report to court every two days. As Elizondo remained in jail, AHMSA named an interim CEO, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.
