AHMSA’s subsidiary Minera del Norte (Minosa) said this week it has reinforced safety procedures at its met coal mine VII following an incident that killed two workers.

The company said it has reached an agreement with German-based DMT GmbH Co, so it can perform an extensive review of the mine’s installations. DMT will perform an analysis of the mine’s operations, installations, as well as prevention systems, so it can introduce and suggest improvements or new technologies.

According to the company, falling material trapped two workers underground, resulting in their death. AHMSA told SteelOrbis earlier this week operations at the mine was suspended until the search for a second missing employee was completed. AHMSA said it found the body of the second missing worker late Monday.
