Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) commenced a major maintenance program at its strip line located at its hot rolling mill, the company said this week.

AHMSA will invest MXN 260 million ($12.7 million) to replace components of its universal rolling mill and rehabilitate a line located at its steel shop No. 1. AHMSA said German-manufactured components are already at the company’s facilities and ready to be installed.

The maintenance program will last one month and aims to “assure the full availability of equipment for the [company’s] next productive campaign,” the company said.

AHMSA said it has enough hot rolled materials to supply its clients for the duration of the maintenance program.
