Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) was awarded a clean industry recognition by the office of the federal attorney for environmental protection (Profepa), the company said this week.

Profepa awarded AHMSA a level two certificate, which requires compliance with all local environmental norms, plus the effective implementation of sustainable efficiency indicators for water, energy and residues.

AHMSA said Profepa certified the steelmaker’s hot rolling mill, skin pass and heavy profiles areas, all located within AHMSA’s No. 1 steelworks.

AHMSA’s subsidiary Antair, which operate airplane services, was also recognized with the level two certificate.
