After measures taken by the government to lessen the impact of imports have not worked out as expected, Francisco Orduña, Director of Communication of Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) said the company is in talks with five major steel consuming firms in the US and Europe that are interested in settling in the  country’s central region in order to establish regular business activity.

Alonso Ancira Elizondo, president of the Board of AHMSA, and Luis Zamudio Miechielsen, director general are talking to overseas steel processing companies for the automotive industry.

The AHMSA spokesman stressed the need to establish a strategy for long-term growth in Mexico, strengthening its industrial vision and planning long-term investments, as other countries do.
