Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has announced that UAE-based manufacturer of hot dip galvanized steel sheets Al Ghurair Iron & Steel (AGIS), in which NSSMC has twenty percent stake, has begun commercial production at its new second continuous galvanizing line.

NSSMC stated that after starting the second continuous galvanizing line, AGIS will scale up its annual production capacity from 200,000 mt to 400,000 mt. NSSMC will make a contribution to the further growth of AGIS and the UAE economy through the stable supply of high quality hot rolled coil (the substrate for hot-dip galvanized steel sheets), which is expected to increase in demand.
