According to the market sources, the US authorities have recently announced the start of the review investigation regarding the antidumping and countervailing duty rates, imposed against rebar imports from Turkey a few years back. Producers in Turkey report that the provided preliminary rates should be much lower than the previously valid ones, however, the final decision is expected to be announced not earlier than in four to six months from now.
The revised CVD is expected to reopen the sales opportunities for Habas to the US in case some demand is there, as previously the producer had around 16 percent CVD, the new rate is expected at somewhat above three percent. “If this is the case, then Habas will for sure be back in the game,” a trader told SteelOrbis.
The AD revisions, if in reality lower, will as well help the mills’ business in the US. According to some sources, the preliminary disclosed rates are lower than two percent in general for Turkey but vary from mill to mill, while the highest currently valid rate is slightly lower than nine percent.
