The Chongqing municipal government announced that a new large coal terminal will be built at Longkou Port.

The terminal will include two 5,000 mt berths constructed by Huaneng Group and four 5,000 mt berths constructed by China Power Investment Corporation, with the aggregate annual throughput of 55.29 million mt. The new terminal is expected to meet the thermal coal demand of the whole city of Chongqing once it's put into operation and act as a transshipment port for cargos to the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River.
