$6.2 billion to be invested in steel projects in Hebei in 2020

China’s Hebei Province plans to invest RMB 43.06 billion ($6.2 billion) in 16 steel projects in 2020, including eight projects on which construction will be started during the year, seven projects the construction of which will be continued, and one project whose production operations will be maintained.

In 2020, 8.69 million mt of new iron-smelting capacity and 7.47 million mt of new steelmaking capacity will be put into operation in Hebei Province. In 2021, 14.51 million mt of iron-smelting capacity and 15.09 million mt of steelmaking capacity will be into operation in the province, with a further 7.22 million mt of new iron-smelting capacity and 8.55 million mt of new steelmaking capacity to be launched in 2022.
