After the short-lived rising movement observed in the Iranian seamless pipe market in May, current demand levels have weakened considerably, dragging down both domestic and import quotations. The present situation has been exacerbated by the difficult political conditions in Iran. Market participants prefer not to conclude any deals for the time being. As a result, offers of Russian seamless pipes have fallen by $20/mt over the past month. Ukrainian producers have decreased their prices by $70-80/mt for seamless pipes of sizes up to 6" and by $110-120/mt for 8"-12" sizes. Chinese origin seamless pipes have dropped by $80/mt over the same period. Besides, the price range of locally produced pipes has narrowed, with the lower end rising by $30/mt and the upper end decreasing by $35/mt during the period in question. In addition, Iranian stockists have lowered their prices by $60-170/mt over the past month. With the country's unstable economy affected by the current political tension, the situation is not likely to improve in the coming period.
Current domestic quotations of Iranian production seamless pipes 1"-4" grade B made to API 5L are at $1,150-1,200/mt ex-works, depending on diameter and wall thickness. In particular, offers of ½" seamless pipes are being given on average at $1,200/mt ex-works, offers of pipes in sizes of ¾"-1 ½" are at $1,180-1,190/mt ex-works, and offers of 2"-4" pipes are at $1,150-1,170/mt ex-works. The prices exclude three percent VAT. Iranian production 1"-4" seamless pipes of grade Х52 made to API 5L are currently offered to the domestic market at on average $1,250-1,300/mt ex-works.
Offers ex-warehouse of local production 1 ½"-3" seamless pipes of grade B as per API 5L are being given at an average of $1,140-1,230/mt.
Russian pipes of up to 8", grade B as per ASTM A106/API 5L, are being offered to northern Iranian ports at about $755-780/mt C&F Anzali.
Offers of Chinese seamless pipes of 2"-6" size, grade B as per ASTM A106/API 5L, are being given to southern Iranian ports at $720-780/mt C&F Bandar Abbas.
Quotations of Ukrainian seamless pipes of 2"-6" size, grade B as per ASTM A106/API 5L, are at $780-820/mt C&F Bandar Abbas, with quotations of 8"-12" size at $830-890/mt C&F Bandar Abbas.
