Local Chinese steel pipe prices move sideways or down slightly

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have indicated both stable and slightly downward movement during the past week.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have moved sideways or slightly down in the past seven days. Overall trading activity has been weak. Upstream billet prices have just indicated minor fluctuations, which has contributed to the stability of most seamless pipe traders’ prices. Certain regions have been influenced by rainy weather and so local demand again became weak. Low inventory has given some support to seamless pipe prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices in China may fluctuate slightly. 

Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have followed a mostly stable trend in the past week, though with slight downticks seen in certain regional markets. Overall trading activity has been at low levels. Following the previous strong price increases, the demand side has been mostly maintaining a wait and see stance. Upstream steel strip prices have just indicated minor fluctuations, which have been insufficient to provide support for welded pipe prices. Rainy weather has contributed to poor demand and price decreases in some parts of the country. As for the week ahead, it is believed that local Chinese welded pipe prices may indicate minor fluctuations.
