Local Chinese steel pipe prices mostly stable

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have mostly followed a stable trend during the past week.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have showed a stable trend during the past seven days, receiving some support from the small increases seen in billet prices. Overall trading activity has been slack due to the proximity of the Chinese New Year holiday. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may follow a stable trend again as more and more players exit the market ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday.

Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have mainly indicated a sideways movement during the past week, though with some upticks also seen supported by small increases in prices of steel strip and other raw materials. Overall trading activity has been sluggish since some downstream users have already left the market ahead of the long holiday. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may mostly move sideways.
