Local Chinese steel pipe prices have mostly indicated a stable trend in the past week, with slight increases also seen.
Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have been mostly stable in the past seven days, with some upticks also seen in prices in some parts of the country supported by increases in billet prices. The influence of production restrictions on supply volumes and market inventories has also supported prices. Overall trading activity has been weak due to the off-season and the cold winter weather. As for the week ahead, it is believed that domestic seamless pipe prices will just fluctuate slightly.
Local Chinese welded pipe prices have mostly followed a stable trend during the past week. Steel strip prices have not changed significantly and so producers of welded pipes have mainly kept their quoted prices stable. Overall trading activity has been weak, while traders are mostly cautious and not willing to increase stock levels. As for the week ahead, considering the ongoing support from the cost side and the weakness of demand, it is believed that welded pipe prices in China may just indicate minor fluctuations.
