Local Chinese steel pipe prices have mainly risen slightly during the past week.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have been mostly stable in the past seven days, with some slight upticks seen also. Overall trading activity has been influenced by public health measures and has remained low. Supply has also been low. Increases in billet prices have provided strong support for seamless pipe prices. As for the week ahead, considering the support from the cost side but also the negative influence of coronavirus measures, it is believed that seamless pipe prices in China may just indicate small fluctuations.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have indicated small increases during the past week, supported by steel strip prices which increased during the latter part of the week. Coronavirus measures have negatively impacted demand and trading activity. As for the week ahead, considering support from the cost side may remain strong, it is believed that domestic welded pipe prices will follow an upward trend.
