Local Chinese steel pipe prices have followed a mostly upward trend during the past week.
Chinese seamless pipe prices have followed an upward trend during the past week on the back of higher billet prices caused by production restrictions. Overall trading activity has improved slightly but is still on the weak side. As for the week ahead, given that the shortage on the supply side may continue, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may continue to rise.
Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have risen slightly in the past seven days, supported by increases in prices of steel strip. However, demand has not fully recovered, which limited the margin of price increases. As for the week ahead, as support from cost side is still strong and as trading activity may increase, it is believed that welded pipe prices in China may edge up.
