Local Chinese pipe prices mostly stable, with some small fluctuations

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have mostly indicated a stable trend in the past week, though with some minor fluctuations also seen.

Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have been mainly stable in the past seven days, though with minor upticks also observed. Overall trading activity has been at low levels. Prices of billet and other raw materials have edged upwards, causing prices of some seamless pipe products to follow suit. However, downstream demand has been slack, and so the majority of traders have not been willing to increase their quoted prices. As for the week ahead, since demand may be impacted by winter weather conditions, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may be stable with some small decreases also possible

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have indicated a mostly stable trend in the past week, with some small decreases also seen in prices. Overall trading activity has slackened and is currently weak. Although prices of steel strip and other raw materials have been fluctuating on an upward trend, the weakness of the demand side has caused most traders to choose to hold prices stable or to reduce them slightly in order to close more deals and reduce stock levels. Market inventories have risen by a small margin slightly as certain producers have returned to work, and this has exerted pressure on welded pipe prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may continue to soften slightly since winter weather conditions may cause demand to shrink.
