Local Chinese pipe prices mostly move on an upward trend

The local Chinese steel pipe prices have mostly increased during the past week.

Chinese seamless pipe prices have moved up during the past seven days. Overall trading activity has increased but is still weak. Production in certain areas has recovered slowly and so local market inventory has remained at low levels. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may indicate further slight rises, while support from the cost side will remain strong and both supply and demand will be on the low side.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have either moved sideways or edged up slightly during the past week, supported by minor rises in steel strip prices. Since coronavirus measures have continued to influence demand and transportation, trading activity has remained weak. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may fluctuate slightly.
