During the given week, steel pipe prices have moved sideways amid the production halts in northern China. Downstream users have not built up stocks, while as the Chinese New Year holiday is approaching they will likely purchase some steel pipe supplies in the coming period, which may bolster prices. It is thought that steel pipe prices in the Chinese domestic market may move sideways in the coming week.

Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 4,632/mt ($727.6/mt) on January 12, up by RMB 188/mt ($29.5/mt), or 4.23 percent compared to that recorded on January 5, while up 2.32 percent compared to the previous trading day, January 11.
