Chinese steel pipe export offer prices move sideways

During the week ending October 20, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved sideways. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $895-925/mt FOB, remaining stable week on week, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $930-960/mt FOB, December shipment, moving sideways compared to that recorded on October 13.

During the given week, steel pipe prices have remained stable amid the prevailing cautious sentiments among market players. The supply shortage has bolstered steel pipe prices amid production restrictions and power supply limits. It is thought that steel pipe prices may fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.

Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,304/mt ($827.5/mt) on October 20, down RMB 117/mt ($18.3/mt) or 2.1 percent from October 13.
