Local Chinese steel pipe prices have followed a mostly stable trend during the past week.
Chinese seamless pipe prices have followed a stable to slightly upward trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has been at a normal level. Upstream billet prices have continued to show weakness but since demand has remained at a normal level and market inventory levels are low, certain traders have chosen to slightly increase their quoted prices again. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may see a trend of small fluctuations.
Chinese welded pipe prices have followed a stable to slightly lower trend for certain types during the past week. Overall trading activity has been at a normal level. Upstream steel strip and raw material prices have indicated a downward trend which continues to put pressure on welded pipe prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may continue to fluctuate with a slightly lower trend, considering weakness on the cost side.
